the spoiltpig
team
spoiltpig bacon is produced by Denhay Farm,
a family owned and operated farm based in the beautiful Marshwood
Vale, West Dorset. Pork products have been produced at Denhay
since 1989 and dry cured bacon since 1995.
For many years
Denhay reared their own pigs and developed their own system
for producing dry cured bacon. They also produced an air dried
ham, or English prosciutto. With changes in environmental
requirements as well as consumer preferences for outdoor reared
pork, they closed their piggeries. However, having developed
a really good curing technique Denhay continues o produce
Denhay Dry Cured Bacon using pork from outdoor reared British
herds.
Denhay Farms also produce spoiltpig bacon which is produced
from animals reared on British farms approved under the Freedom
Food Scheme. These farms have to achieve welfare standards
devised and monitored by the RSPCA. The bacon is cured using
traditional methods which results in extremely tasty bacon
that doesn't shrink during cooking.
As a farming
and food business, Denhay Farm is focused entirely on producing
high quality bacon. It's their stated ambition to work with
their customers to ensure that they meet or even exceed their
expectations of taste, flavour, texture and presentation.
As a measure of this Denhay Farms has:
* Freedom Foods accreditation
* British Farm Assured accreditation for the cows
* Become members of both LEAF* and FWAG**
